What's New

DATRAN Software Releases
All our software is constantly evolving as we bring out new features and resolve issues. In order for us to provide you the best possible support, we strongly recommend that all products are updated to the current release.

The primary reason for this release is to introduce a significantly improved and faster TCP Server.
This has already been installed in many customers systems and is delivering significant performance improvements.
A district council user recently quoted "excellent, seriously pleased with the changes".
DATRAN Supervisor v3.64
To take full advantage of the performance enhancements of the new TCP Server, DATRAN Supervisor needs to be updated. This result is alarm screens being displayed much quicker.
DATRAN Vue v3.18
Again this release takes full advantage of the new TCP Server and GUI screens now launch much faster.

Customers with Software Maintenance Agreements can download all the updates from our website. Please get in touch with our sales team to ensure all the correct people in your organisation gain access to these important updates.
For help or assistance to install these updates please contact us now.

SMS Lite Update

Our customers continue to find novel uses for this amazing product - the 4G SMS Lite provides text message control and monitoring of just about anything:

  • Irrigation - never forget to switch the system on again
  • Jetty lighting - switch on when you approach
  • Pump monitoring - Get status texts
  • Bach heating - send a text and be warm when you arrive

Alternatively, the SMS Controller is a larger and more powerful option. Still based on 4G but with even more configuration and control program options.

Please get in touch now to order your SMS solution before Christmas.

Case Study

The history of QTech RTUs
It is important to understand the evolution of our RTU family as there are so many older modules still in service. However, as with all technology, there are limits to what can be upgraded to the sophisticated capabilities of our current platform.
The QRTU was QTech’s first RTU in the late 1980's, which was followed by the DATRAN II RTU. Both of these came to end of life as the DATRAN II eXcel RTU evolved and established itself as an industry leader.
The DATRAN II eXcel RTU (Q03 and Q22 Rev C) came to end of life a few years later but the DATRAN II eXcel (Q03 with Q22 Rev D) can still be upgraded to a Q04 Processor. However since the Q22 module is likely to be in excess of seven years old, any upgrade will need to be done at QTech.
End of life means that there is no further hardware or production of that product and firmware support will no longer be provided.

The DATRAN XL4 Plus RTU is our current generation of RTU which was introduced in 2017. We continue to provide Tech Support to clients still using the older models, but if there is an issue which involves hardware/firmware, then the XL4 Plus is the replacement.
We recommend that, wherever possible, older RTUs be replaced/upgraded with the XL4 Plus RTU, in order to utilise the latest features and functions available. These upgrades need to be planned and budgeted for now, especially given the upcoming changes surrounding the Water Service Bill and reforms, which will inevitably place higher demands on your telemetry network.
If you need more information or want to discuss the upgrade paths please get in touch.

Other News

QTech recently sponsored a technology project with the University of Canterbury and we are proud to share this certificate with you.
As QTech is a New Zealand owned technology business, we fully identify with Canterbury University's comment:
"In a fast-changing global environment, we recognise the need to develop graduates with the skills and personal attributes needed by the industry in New Zealand and around the world".

Steve Champ, Managing Director of QTech said
"it was very rewarding to be involved with this project. This is a great example of how investing in our talented younger people will contribute to the ongoing success of New Zealand in the technology space."
